SPENCER , N.C. — The N.C. Transportation Museum has switched to its fall operating schedule for the on-site train ride.

Train rides will be offered on Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1, 2 and 3 p.m., and on Sundays at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. During the week, train rides will run only when there are scheduled group tours. The public is welcome to join train rides operating for scheduled groups, but visitors should call the museum before arriving to see if a train is running on that day.

To schedule a group tour, or to inquire about the train schedule, call 704-636-2889 or toll-free at 1-877-NCTM-FUN, or visit www.nctrans.org.

The North Carolina Transportation Museum, located in historic Spencer Shops, the former Southern Railway repair facility for steam locomotives, is part of the Division of State Historic Sites, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources, www.ncculture.com. The museum offers free admission and is conveniently located just a few minutes off I-85 at Exit 79 in Spencer, N.C., and about an hour from Charlotte, Greensboro or Winston-Salem.
